Beyond the endless glare regarding the neon that is bright and the sounds of slot machines, cocktail cups and sexy encounters, lies a much, much darker and grimmer reality in Sin City: a seldom-reported fact and one which many resorts walk out their way to keep from the media is the specific range suicides committed in nevada, often following a final weekend of debauchery and with as numerous tragic motivations as life it self has to offer. These suicides are never associated to something that happened in vegas, mind you; but the City of Neon seems to represent to people that are many spot to see life off, for whatever reasons.

In fact, several research reports have discovered that vegas is the #1 destination of preference for people to kill themselves in the U.S.

Three UTEP Miners basketball players were suspended following allegations of illegal recreations gambling

If you’re a college sports fan, you almost certainly do not think much about the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) when it comes to teams. Sure, you might have heard of UTEP, but you are not too concerned when your chosen team suits up to play them, and you may not be choosing them to win a championship that is national basketball or football anytime quickly. And if their basketball group is in the headlines, you understand it’s not likely for anything they will have done on the court.

Three Players Accused of Betting on Games

And that is precisely true for the headlines taken from UTEP this week. Three players were kicked off of the UTEP men’s basketball team after allegations were made against them related to gambling on sports. Those allegations finally caused the school to report the gambling to the FBI that is local field, and then remove the players from their team.

For those looking for something such as the 1994 Arizona State aim shaving scandal, however, it doesn’t appear that things went quite that far in this case. In line with the college, none of the three UTEP players involved are accused of shaving points or games that are throwing and there is no evidence that any of them bet on games played by UTEP. Penn National Partners with Jamul Indian Village for California Casino

Penn National Gaming is getting into the California market having a brand new casino project in partnership with Jamul Indian Village, about 20 miles east of north park. The $360 million development still requires the blessing associated with the National Indian Gaming Commission for Penn become approved as its management company, but that’s mostly seen as a formality at this point, and construction is already underway.

Penn National runs the chi-chi M Resort regarding the far south end associated with nevada Strip; the very casino that is last in fact, before you head off to Southern California.

Native Compact Place to Use

The new project will make use of the Native American tribe’s California gaming compact, held since 1999 to be called the Hollywood Casino Jamul. The construction that is new be three stories and a total of 200,000 square feet once completed. It’s expected to open towards the end of next year.

Penn National Chief Operating Officer Jay Snowden says the brand new casino will ‘bring to fruition [the Jamul’s] eyesight to revitalize their booking and be self-sufficient, while simultaneously sharing gaming revenue with local governments and charities.’
